Inclusive Design Policy for CMHR
Project Description
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) wished to codify their considerable commitment to inclusive design in an inclusive design policy, which would be integrated into the museum's governance structure. This way, the museum's commitment was not dependent on the support of current staff, as this policy will outlast any one employee.
PAC was delighted to help craft and author this inclusive design policy, which not only covered website accessibility by incorporating WCAG 2.0 levels A and AA, but also extended these requirements to other digital interfaces throughout the museum, such as exhibitions. At CMHR, inclusive design and accessibility are baked into the design, realized through the commitment of dedicated and hardworking staff, and woven into the institution's fabric through this new policy.
