PAC Celebrates the Opening of the Thaddeus Stevens and Lydia Hamilton Smith Center for History and Democracy
Over the weekend, PAC visited the newly opened Thaddeus Stevens and Lydia Hamilton Smith Center for History and Democracy in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where we had the opportunity to experience several years of collaborative work now open to the public.
Developed by LancasterHistory in collaboration with RAA and a talented team of project partners, the new museum and education center features 16 exhibition galleries that combine immersive environments, scenographic design, multimedia experiences, and accessible storytelling approaches to create a rich and engaging visitor experience.
Through innovative interpretive experiences, the museum invites visitors to explore the lives and legacies of freedom seekers and their allies, while reflecting on the ongoing struggle for equality and democracy in the United States today. PAC is proud to have contributed inclusive design and accessibility expertise in support of this important project and to see the completed experience now welcoming visitors.
Congratulations to LancasterHistory, RAA, and all project collaborators on this remarkable achievement.
