PAC Featured in Exhibition Journal, Fall 2025
PAC is honored to have been approached to write a piece for Exhibition journal, and we are proud to share that our op-ed, “Multisensory Is Not Sufficient”, is featured in their Fall 2025 issue.
Our article challenges the notion that accessibility ends with basic content access and calls for a deeper, more deliberate approach to inclusive design. We argue that engaging multiple senses is not the same as ensuring information is meaningfully available across modalities. True inclusion, we explain, requires a process known as modality mapping—the thoughtful coordination of audio, tactile, visual, and haptic elements. This approach allows visitors to choose how they engage with information, fostering agency and equity.
Drawing on PAC’s collaborative projects, our piece demonstrates how accessibility can evolve from a compliance requirement into a creative practice of inclusion. Whether through tactile models that convey detail and scale, synchronized light and sound for immersive learning, or multimodal brand identities that blend sight, sound, and touch, the article shows how accessibility can become an integral part of storytelling and user experience.
Ultimately, we assert that accessibility must be more than an afterthought—it must be foundational to design. True inclusion occurs when all visitors can experience, interpret, and contribute on equal terms.
