ProQuest Advances Accessibility Across Content Solutions
ProQuest, part of Clarivate, recently shared updates on its ongoing work to improve accessibility across its content solutions. The company highlighted several current and upcoming initiatives, including accessible text generation by request, expanded inline image descriptions, AI-enabled PDF remediation upon download, and audio description for select Alexander Street video content.
PAC is proud to have contributed to many of these improvements, working with ProQuest to support more accessible experiences across its platforms and collections. Because ProQuest content spans a wide range of formats, source materials, and historical content, accessibility improvements at this scale require both thoughtful strategy and sustainable technical solutions.
These efforts reflect the broader need for accessibility practices that are built into digital collections from the start. PAC is encouraged to see continued investment in work that helps students, faculty, researchers, and lifelong learners engage more fully with scholarly and archival content.
