QR

Welcome! You’ve scanned a QR code that is part of our commitment to accessible, inclusive design. These QR codes are integrated directly into tactile graphics or physical environments, typically framed by a tactile border that makes them easy to locate by touch. Our goal with these QR codes is to make tactile experiences richer, clearer, and more informative, providing blind and other visitors layered ways to access the content.

Each QR code connects you to additional information that complements the tactile experience, such as a guided tactile description (GTD). GTDs are critical for tactile graphics and other forms of tactile exploration where their additional contextual information and descriptions help build out a full and equitable understanding of what is being depicted tactiley.

Check out a guided tactile description for an example tactile map.

We design these QR markers using a consistent tactile vocabulary so that, whether you’re interacting with a tactile map, a physical sign, or an exhibit feature, you’ll know what to expect and how to engage with it confidently.
