Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs)
Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) are standardized templates used to document how an information and communications technology product or service conforms to applicable accessibility standards. Once completed, a VPAT becomes an Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR), which can be shared with procurement teams, clients, public-sector agencies, educational institutions, enterprise customers, and other stakeholders who need clear accessibility conformance information.
PAC supports organizations in preparing accurate, defensible ACRs using the appropriate VPAT edition for the product, market, or procurement requirement. Depending on the context, this may include WCAG, Revised Section 508, EN 301 549, or the International VPAT. The resulting ACR documents conformance by criterion, using the recognized reporting categories such as supports, partially supports, does not support, or not applicable, with explanatory remarks that help readers understand the product’s accessibility posture.
PAC can complete VPAT-based reporting from existing accessibility work, including WCAG Audits, Implementation Spot Checks, or other accessibility evaluations. We can also conduct a standalone review specifically to support VPAT completion when current findings are not available or are not sufficiently detailed for conformance reporting.
This work is not a certification or a blanket claim that a product is fully accessible. Instead, it provides structured, evidence-informed documentation of how the product currently conforms to the relevant standards. A well-prepared ACR helps organizations respond to procurement requirements, communicate accessibility status clearly, identify known limitations, and support more transparent conversations with buyers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
